INSTRUCTORS

Cole Miller

Professor Cole Miller, retired American mixed martial artist and longtime competitor in the Lightweight and Featherweight division of the UFC. Professor Miller carved out a memorable career in the world’s premier MMA promotion, competing in more than 20 UFC fights across a decade-plus tenure in the Octagon. Transitioning to full-time MMA training in 2004 and earning early success in regional promotions and eventually joining the world-renowned American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida, where he developed under elite coaches and training partners.

A 3rd-degree black belt under Marcos “Parrumpinha” Da Matta. He showcased a submission-heavy offensive style that yielded 15 submission victories in his professional record.

Professor Cole earned multiple UFC performance bonuses, including four “Submission of the Night” awards and one “Knockout of the Night.” His skill set and veteran savvy made him a respected figure in the featherweight ranks, combining slick grappling with a cerebral fight IQ.

Since retiring from professional competition, he shares his expertise through coaching, influencing the next generation of martial artist to the attacking guard and dominant positional style we teach at Dublin Jiu JItsu.

TIM BLUE

Tim’s journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu began in 2006, and over the years he has steadily climbed the ranks to earn his black belt, 1st degree — a testament to his years of consistent training, discipline, and deep understanding of the sport. As a coach, he emphasizes fundamentals, leverage-based technique, and smart strategy, ensuring that students learn not just what to do, but why it works. His teaching style is clear, patient, and adaptable, making him an effective instructor for practitioners of all levels. Professor Tim has many years experience teaching Youth Jiu Jitsu and helped build programs for academies all over middle Georgia. Professor Tim spends his time away from the mats outdoors and fishing, having previously worked with the GA department of natural resources.

John Anthony Thomson

John Thomson is a dedicated 2nd degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt and respected instructor based in Georgia. With years of training experience and a passion for the art of grappling, John has become a cornerstone of the local BJJ community — helping students of all ages and skill levels.

Professor John combines technical expertise with an approachable coaching style leaning into experience with Judo and Catch Wrestling to supplement his approach to teaching. He plays an active role in preserving the fundamentals to both adults and children, making world-class grappling instruction accessible to practitioners at every stage of their journey. Whether guiding beginners through their first steps in BJJ or helping advanced students refine complex techniques, his coaching emphasizes patience, precision, and progress.

John’s commitment to martial arts goes beyond competition — he focuses on fostering personal growth, confidence, and discipline in his students through structured training and effective mentorship. As a key instructor at local academies in Georgia, he continues to contribute to the growth of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the region and is known for building strong, supportive training environments where students can excel.

MAC WARREN

Mac Warren has been dedicated to raising awareness about the benefits of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in his community for decades. A talented sports photographer, many of the competition photos shared on social media over the years at MMA and BJJ events came from his camera lens and keen eye. He brings to his students a friendly, encouraging coaching style grounded in the principles of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — including leverage, control, and real-world self-defense. He focuses on clear instruction, patient repetition, and practical application. His approach creates an environment where training is challenging yet supportive, empowering students to push their limits and achieve personal progress. Mac reached the rank of Black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2025.
